Ten Years ago this November 6th,  we tragically lost my brother Ciaran Flanagan to suicide.

It was a day that changed our lives forever. I don’t know where the years have gone.

When I learnt of his passing, I thought I would never be able to take another step in my life as it was then.
The pain of losing a loved one to suicide is indescribable; there are no words, no answers and often no understanding.
Sadly, this is experienced by too many people on a daily basis.

Having suffered from depression, brought on by my grief, I turned to exercise which helped me immensely. I even learnt to swim this year, something that I thought I would never have the mind set to do!!

To mark Ciaran’s ten years of passing, I have challenged myself to complete an indoor Triathlon in his memory on the 12 September 2021. A bit later than initially planned due to Covid! 
It consists of a 400 metre swim, 20 Kilometres bike ride and a 5 Kilometres run.

I will be raising money for a charity close to my heart JOCA (Just One Click Away). JOCA are an awesome Charity set up by people who have experienced the loss of their loved ones to suicide.

I understand and appreciate that the last 18 month have been an awful period for all of us, especially for Charities who rely on donations in order to be able to continue with their relentless efforts and hard work.
