Our beautiful daughter/sister Katie died 5 years ago on the 13th May, 2011 at the young age of 27 years.  Katie was diagnosed with an extremely rare genetic condition Niemann-Pick at the age of 9 years.  It is a neurologically, degenerative disease leading to progressive loss of motor skills and an inability to walk.

At present there is no cure for Niemann-Pick Disease and realistically it will be some time in the future before there is one. 

Although Katie's life was short, it was one filled with love and laughter and when we are feeling sad we think of the following words;

"We can't feel saddened by the loss of those we love, without first remembering the joy of loving them.   The real sadness would be never having them in our lives at all"

Katie was an inspiration and we are doing this trek in her memory.  All proceeds will be sent to the Katie Elliott Fund set up with Niemann-Pick by Katie's Grandfather.
