A little over 15 months ago I became an Auntie, my mam and dad became Grandparents and my fab sister became a Mummy!

Alana Rae Hodgson was born June 10th 2011 and we couldn't be prouder to have been blessed with such a healthy little girl. She is the most gorgeous, funniest, cleverest little thing (of course we would say that) and I feel so lucky to be a part of a family who are able to express their love so freely and spoil her rotten in whatever way we can!

But not all families are so lucky or so fortunate. Some children are born with mental or physical disabilities; some into poor social backgrounds where their parents just can't afford to give them all the things they need and deserve; others are raised in violent or abussive environments. I look at Alana and it makes me feel so sad, and yet so appreciative. I realise how fortunate we are as a family.

My neice has inspired me to run this year's Great North Run in aid of Metro Radio's "Cash For Kids", who raise thousands of pounds a year towards helping disabled and disadvantaged children throughout the North East.

EVERY CHILD DESERVES TO BE HAPPY!
