I really want to make a difference to these Pygmy Hippos. I am hoping to raise any amount of money to help with their conservation efforts. Pygmy hippos are not typical hippos. They grow up to be about half the size of the traditional hippo and they're born at only around 10 pounds. They are nocturnal herbivores that are very gentle. The traditional Hippopotamus species is very aggressive while Pygmy hippos are extremely friendly with one another and calm. Their habitats are being destroyed in Africa by deforestation. They are only native to a handful of forests in the world. As well as their habitats being lost they are also still hunted by big game hunters. They are an endangered species and to my knowledge there are only around 2,000-3,000 left in the wild across the world. Any donation amount would mean a lot to me and also go to a wonderful cause to keeping these sweet, beautiful creatures around.
