Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. If you want to see what a bike means in Burundi check out this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTPAJTEVcYU. Bananas are the staple food in Burundi and “Bananas" is how I feel about taking on this challenge as a fifty something woman with almost no biking experience in a country where roads are up or down but rarely flat! “That climbing is utterly bonkers” said a cycling friend! How encouraging! Thanks a bunch!
I became aware of the work of GLO in Burundi two years ago, and was struck that this country had even more challenges and was poorer than Malawi where we had previously lived. Genocide and civil war ravaged the lives of people who were already on the brink of survival. GLO works to partner Burundian leaders with integrity, vision, and passion to transform their own communities. Please donate to help break the cycle of poverty in Burundi and see individual lives transformed. Your donation will allow orphans and street children continue to receive a home, food and education. Widows will receive help to build houses, and be supported with microfinance, loans and training to set up a business. The sick and those living with HIV/AIDs will be given health care. Reconciliation will take place amongst different ethnic groups...and so much more. Just to be totally clear, I have paid all my costs and all pledges go to GLO. In Burundi a bike is a lifeline. With your support and my physical effort we can together provide a lifeline to many living right on the edge.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
