Story

Why am I doing this?

On 26th February 2014 my Dad (Ian, a dementia sufferer) went missing from is home in Buckie.  Despite a massive search effort organised by Police Scotland he has not (yet) been found.

I was truly astonished by the scale of the search which involved many Police Officers, Police Dogs, The Royal Air Force, The RNLI, HM Coastguard, Mountain Rescue (Aberdeen & Braemar Teams), Search & Rescue Dogs (SARDA) Scotland, and many volunteers from Buckie and the surrounding area.

I have been deeply touched by the willingness of so many wanting to help, and the for support and kindness shown to me and my family by the people of Buckie - thanks to you all.

To try and say thanks to everyone in a more practical way, I’ve decided to try and raise some money for SARDA Scotland.  SARDA Dogs were used to look for my Dad when he went missing.  It costs about £4000 to train a dog and its handler, so my goal is raise this amount.

The Run

The Speyside Way Race Ultra Marathon (23rd August) covers 36.5 miles from from Ballindalloch to Buckie.

You may well have seen me hobbling around outside with my trainers on, so you'll probably know that I've done a bit of running before. However I've not actually run a marathon before, let alone an ultra marathon... so this will be interesting!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
