Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 24th April 2016, I will be fulfilling a childhood dream by taking on the London Marathon.

My Dad completed this event when I was 5 years old.  He was 23 and ran it in 3 hours 47 minutes and 54 seconds. After jokingly running around the living room with his medal, along with my mates during my childhood, many moons ago, I am still in disbelief that I will be doing it myself. I have 10 years on him and much shorter legs, so I'm aiming to complete the 26 miles in around 4 to 4 and a half hours.

Following 3 years of taking part in Tough Mudder events, I will shortly be reaching my target milestone of becoming a 10x Tough Mudder legionnaire and decided I needed a new challenge.

I was watching this years London Marathon event and thought, "Thats it!!! I'm going to stop wishing I entered this and actually enter it" a Facebook status later and I was put in touch with RNIB by my friend Mark Rogerson, whom they have helped a lot to date. I checked my emails every day for months after expressing my interest and couldn't believe it when I got that "Congratulations" email.

I currently work as a Dispensing Optician at Specsavers Opticians, St Helens. So, raising money for the RNIB will be another great way for me to help the visually impaired. My store directors are also kindly supporting me on this event with a large donation to my JustGiving page, as well as giving me the opportunity to raise funds in work through store fun days in the run up to the event.

I will also be carrying out a fund raising raffle to raise the funds required to hit my target, this will be drawn at a fun night, at The Rockware. More details on this will follow, once I get some great prizes donated.

THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS, ALL DONATIONS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
