Story

This year, my local church were blessed to receive an astounding donation of £22,500 from the Friends of Kent Churches, to help pay for the long overdue and much needed roof repairs.  Now a roof isn't the most heart string pulling of reasons to make you part with your money I know.  It's what that roof will enable us to keep on doing for our local community that is so wonderful.

Its not just about the Sunday service or even the Baotisms, Weddings and Funerals.  The church is open 5 mornings a week, we are a Community Hub for the people of Murston - providing fair and affordable loans via our links with Kent Credit Union (we were the very first bank to open in a church). Helping people get out of debt and start saving rather than birrowing.  We offer support to vulnerable by organising food parcels, appointments with the CAB. We run a parent & toddler group, provide free lunches and community events like the recent Community Wardrobe - collecting donated school uniforms, repairing them, washing and ironing them and then giving them away free to anyone who wanted them.  We run a monthly Book Sale which isn't just about raising funds, but about providing an event for the community - most recently a mini Olympics day with a proper fitness instructor & medals!!

For me, it's about paying it back to the community I grew up in.  Showing them that they matter and we care about them.  Half the money I raise will come directly back to Murston Church so it can continue to do all these wonderful things and many more going forward - we've got ideas, we just need resources and support to put them into action

What ever you can afford to give - I will be humbly grateful for.  THANK YOU :-) xxx
