Ellie is a very special young lady who I have had the privilege of teaching over the last 4 years. Her story is written below, but through everything she has shown tremendous courage and bravery at such a young age. Making us all remember how lucky we are.

This is Ellie's story...

Three years ago, my mum was diagnosed with cancer. It was a
type of cancer that does not have a specific treatment so when she
had the operation they found that they could not get the cancer out because it had spread around the portal vein in her neck, so it
was too risky to cut off the cancer. After the operation, when she was recovered enough they said that they would treat her with a type of chemotherapy that treats a wide range of cancers. When
she started it was tough, but it got that little bit easier. But sadly after 38 doses of treatment which is amazing, and more than most people can
stand it stopped working and the cancer spread to her stomach.
She then had another operation in the summer holidays, then a few
months after that there was the choice of whether to try another type
of treatment or to just let the cancer take its course. In the end my
mum chose not to have the treatment because it could have just made her life even shorter. A few days after she made that decision she had to go to the local GP surgery and from then she went downhill, later that evening she had got worse and sadly the next day she passed away very early in the morning, luckily the hospital had phoned my dad and he was there when she passed away.

The amazing thing is I have got loads of memories from the
last few years.
