We fund research and provide support to improve blood cancer patients' lives

Story

Please sponsor me. My name is Joe and Im 13 and I am going to attempt a 26 mile bike ride (or as much as i can) from hospital or at home on a bike machine, even though Ive just had a bone marrow transplant to help beat Leukaemia for a third time.

Im amazed at the support and the feedback ive had- i dont think im brave- just committed to beat this disease and make sure other kids dont go through what ive had. Thanks to Eddie Izzard, Alastair Campbell, Lord Sugar, Roger Daltry, Simon Cowell and all those that have tweeted and retweeted my you tube clip so far

The first time I had Leukaemia I was 2 . After 5 years treatment I thought Id beaten it but it came back again when i was 9. After another 2 years of treatment and time leading a normal life again we discovered it had come back again on New Years Eve 2010/11. This time I have had loads more chemo, really horrible radiotherapy and a  transplant, thanks to an anonymous donor. I was in isolation in hospital whilst the new cells grew, and then a long slow recovery (at home and in hospital) and I will be off school for nearly a year

My family has so far raised about £30,000 to help fund more research into finding a cure for blood cancers, especially in children. But I want to raise even more and. I plan to walk to the North Pole when Im better.

Every year we do the Leukaemia Bikeathon in London to raise money and I love doing it as its really inspiring..I cant do it this year so instead Im going to set up my bike at home on a stand and take part that way so I can still be involved raising money to beat this disease just like ive done 8 times over the last 10 years.

Please help me raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research by donating a small amount below and then sending this to ALL of your friends and contacts urging them to do the same. Please also get everyone to give blood and sign up to the Anthony Nolan bone marrow donation register too. (http://www.anthonynolan.org) - without a donor I wouldnt be alive now.

I wont give up until we’ve beaten blood cancers in children for good (currently 90% success) because I don’t want any other kids to go through what Im going through.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Please donate now-  it saves lives and really makes such a difference.

Thank you
Joe
