Story

A final word from our event organiser and team leader, Andy Barnett...

"Big congratulations to all the team involved in this massive challenge. Completing the final Munro early on Saturday morning was a fantastic achievement which cannot be overstated. Particularly as the weather was not kind during the whole event, with typical Highland summer rain, clouds and wind most of the time we were out.

However team spirit shone through and pulled everyone together to complete 27km of walking and 3,700m of ascent.

A special thank you also to our 6 drivers who were not just brilliant at driving the long distances involved but were moral supporters; tea & coffee providers; food servers; mechanics; sorters of problems, amongst other talents.

Also to our 'cooking ladies' who served up a marvellous hot chili and pasta with all the trimmings, at Kinlochewe waypoint, to a very appreciative, bedraggled and hungry crew. Smiling as they served through the clouds of midges.

A very enjoyable celebration evening to round off the event in Marybank Hall on Saturday night managed to raise a further £800 to the good cause.

A huge thank you to all our supporters for this event, helping us raise an enormous amount for Alzheimer Scotland, a very important charity, close to many of our hearts.

Here's to the next one!!! ........but only after a wee rest first."

=====================================================

We are a group of 24 friends who have come together to raise funds for Alzheimer Scotland, after several of us have had close family members affected by dementia.

Our fundraising challenge is to continuously drive the fabulous North Coast 500 route while also stopping along the way to climb 5 Munros (mountains in Scotland over 3,000 feet), all within 24 hours.

Date for the event has been set as 14-15 July 2017. Starting and finishing in Inverness.

All donations will be gratefully received.
