We raise funds for research/family support to improve the lives of mito patients.

Story

I suffer with a bad back and last year I had to have major back surgery which put me out of action for nearly 6 months but thankfully I'm now recovered and can continue to fulfil my dreams.

Monkey and I will be heading out to Tanzania on 26th December 2019 to conquer Mount Kilimanjaro where we hope to reach the summit of 5895m above sea level in time to see in 2020.

As most of you are aware trekking has become my passion and I regularly trek around the beautiful mountain ranges and peaks here in sunny Spain but nothing compares to the thrill of conquering the biggest mountains!. In April Monkey and i went and fulfilled a life long dream...... We conquered Everest Base Camp, and we did it for the Charlie Gard Foundation.

Once again I've chosen to raise vital funds for The Charlie Gard Foundation because everybody deserves a chance of life and treatment regardless of their illness or disease.

Mitochondrial disease is classed as rare yet is killing more children than all combined childhood cancers and there is still little or no funding into research and treatment.

The Charlie Gard foundation is about to embark on their very first mitochondrial research project and therefore we need your help.

As time goes on and you start meeting more and more families who's lives have been affected by this most horrendous disease it starts to affect you too and you have that constant burning question...... why isn't more being done, how can there be so many people affected by Mito, yet there's still little awareness and no treatment. Well this is why Monkey and I are setting out these challenges, we want to spread awareness whilst raising as much funds as possible so that hopefully we can help create a brighter mito future. It's the least these families deserve.

About the charity

The Charlie Gard Foundation is one of the UK’s leading charities dedicated to fighting mitochondrial disease. The foundation raises awareness for the condition, invests in world-class research into viable treatments, and supports families whose lives have been touched by this incurable disease.
