We've got a problem in PR. We seem to be failing to attract and retain the diverse talent we need to truly reflect the clients and public we serve.

In five years the industry has managed to increase representation of Asian and black people by only one percentage point apiece, which means both ethnic groups are underrepresented by between one half and a third. (Source: PR Week, Jan 2017)

This has a negative effect on our creativity, our strategy and ultimately, PR being considered a professional and well rounded industry. 

The Taylor Bennett Foundation’s award-winning training and mentoring programmes exist to encourage black, Asian and ethnic minority graduates to pursue a career in communications.

Established by communications executive search firm Taylor Bennett in partnership with the University Of East London in 2008, the Foundation seeks to address the need for greater diversity in the public relations industry.

I've been an active supporter of this foundation and have seen first hand the quality of the candidates that come through the programme and go on to have outstanding careers in the industry.
