BHWT provide a hugely positive influence on the lives of ex-commercial laying hens.

In 2020 my life was changed for good when I took home our first 4 ladies to their grass covered, free range retirement village! Such excitement to see and hear our little girls scratching around day in, day out!

But my hen-journey had just begun!

Yes we get eggs every day from our ladies but we soon learnt that they bring with it lots of individual personality and smile inducing antics. Our flock has grown as to has our involvement with BHWT with whom I now volunteer. 

Visiting the farms to collect the hens early morning, then settling the girls at the rehoming site before handing them safely to excited new hen owners as they head off for retirement. Just wonderful.

None of this is possible without the work of the BHWT, a charity whose purpose is to work with the British egg industry and the farmers to raise awareness and rehome the hens.
