Story
We have both been very lucky to be able to participant in many different running races over time, all of various lengths and on different terrains. However we promised ourselves that one day if we ever did something "stupid" and enter into an event that would push our running ability we would do it for charity (and try and raise as much as possible).
So during a slightly drunk "lockdown" evening in September we decided to enter the Bristol Green Man Winter Ultra. This is a "legendary" (among runners any way!) race that takes place every March around the outskirts of Bristol.
It is a self guided 45 mile loop around the Community Forest Path, starting and finishing from Ashton Court estate in Bristol. It is certainly going to push our relationship to the limits, as we both have the challenge of map reading, hunger, a few fair miles and probably a lot of mud!
On to the most important stuff though. We want to raise as much money as possible for the Somerset Community Foundation (via the Old Mill fund). Our company decided to setup a dedicated fund to help support this foundation, which provides grants to local "grass-roots" charities in the county.
We have witnessed the amazing work and effort that goes into running these smaller charities and the incredible impact they have on local communities. We need these charities more than ever right now.
