Event: Cotswold Way Challenge, from 1 July 2017 to 2 July 2017
We brought loving palliative care to children in China

Story

On July 1st I will be attempting to walk 100km of the Cotswold way as part of the Cotswold Way Challenge. I am fundraising for the Butterfly Children's Hospice, in China,  who I volunteered with as part of my medical elective in 2013. The Butterfly Children’s Hospice provides loving care and treatment for children with life-limiting conditions and life-threatening illnesses. They have a children’s hospice in Changsha, China, and have supported other projects with specialist nursing care and advice for children who have palliative care needs, including those with complex illnesses and at end of life.

Some children have been abandoned, others are brought to us when families can no longer face the journey alone. But no matter how small or how sick, they give each child the love, care and medical attention they need.

I witnessed first hand the amazing work that they do, and saw just some of the lives that have been transformed through their ongoing efforts. This year they are celebrating their 10 year anniversary and I hope to be able to help them continue to provide for these children through this walk.
