Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. As those close to Sheila and John will already know, Sheila lost her fight against her Non Hodgkins Lymphoma on Thursday 3rd October with John by her side. There aren't any words that can sum up how shocked and saddened we feel. Sheila's passing has made us all the more determined to raise as much money for Leukaemia Lymphoma Research as possible, to try and ensure in our own small way that other families do not have to go through this in the future.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

For those who have not visited our page before, below is the piece I wrote whilst Sheila was very poorly. It was at this time that we decided we wanted to begin fundraising for this charity...

"As some of you reading this page will already know my Auntie Sheila is currently very poorly battling a very agressive form of Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. Sheila is fighting hard and she has a tower of strength standing by her side in the form of my Uncle John. We are all praying and willing her to continue to make small steps towards a recovery. As John has said, she has a mountain to climb and all those who love and care for her and John, are willing her to get to the summit.

So why are we asking you to donate to our chosen cause? Like all those close to John and Sheila, Craig and I have been shaken by how hard and fast this disease has taken a hold. We want to be able to do so much more than in reality we can at this time. To this end we have decided to put our energies into something positive and have signed up for the Blenheim Palace Triathlon next June. Training starts next week!

Some of you who know me will no doubt be raising an eyebrow at this point. I think it would be fair to say I am not renound for my athletic prowess. As I write this, thoughts of coming last in school sports days and being told by my little brother that I run like a duck are filling my mind! But I have never been someone to shy away from a challenge and we are going to give it our best shot!

So why put myself through it? Because in short I want to do all I can to help Sheila and those like her who are battling this disease. We recognise that Sheila remains a very poorly lady and that she still has a long way to go before the mountain ahead of her is climbed. Like so many others she is fighting bravely and with such determination. The work of Leukaemia Lymphoma Research is vital in furthering and improving treatments for people with blood cancers.

Sheila and John have always been there for Craig and I and we love them very much. It is so easy to take someones presence for granted when they have always been in your your life.

Please give what you can - thank you!!

Julia and Craig
