Story
Unfortunately on the 1st November 2020 my mum passed away just 6 months following her diagnosis of lung cancer. She was at St Julia's Hospice which she described as a 'home from home', for how relaxed and comfortable they made her.
Mum had a couple of stays at the hospice one following chemotherapy and a hip replacement, this really helped to to lift mums mood and get her to a position where she was able to return home all be it only for a short while. She said she felt like a fraud as she would have a good laugh and chat with the nurses and made her forget about how ill she really was.
Each time she came to St Julia's she felt relaxed and peaceful and couldn't quite believe the care that she received. The time that all the staff had for her and the care taken to find out about her illness which she and all the family are very grateful for. With the added complication of Covid 19 and mum having to shield, we were unable to spend much time with her since her diagnosis and so the hospice enabled us to spend time with mum in the short days we knew she had left.
We also had to say good bye to our gran in 2019, she also spent her final days at St Julia's Hospice and again then we were able to be together as a family with her.
I cant believe that the Hospice has to be run through fundraising and i want to give back for the care that our family have been given over the last 2 years.
