                                          HUNTING FOR A CURE
BE MY VOICE AND HELP ME RAISE AWARENESS AND MUCH NEEDED RESEARCH FUNDS FOR THE HUNTINGTON’S DISEASE ASSOCIATION

                             THIS IS ME KAREN RICHARDSON

“MY FUND RAISING CHALLENGE”
This is for future generations, not for me, I have my own life line in the devoted love and care of my daughter Lisa and my husband Wayne. For my colleagues at Herga Technology in Bury St. Edmunds where I celebrated 25-years of service in May 2013, friends and indeed anyone interested, you will walk, walk a long way, walk 50KM (OK over 2 x weekends) and for every step shout loud to raise awareness and much needed funds for those that may suffer from this horrific and disabling Huntington’s disease in the future. Help me and my friends reach our target of £4,000 before the end of the second walk on the 10th August 2019.

Walk One – 25KM from the Henny Swan in Sudbury CO10 7LS and through the beautiful River Stour Valley on the Suffolk / Essex border, returning back to the Henny Swan on Saturday the 20th July 2019.
Walk Two – 25KM from Hall Cottage, Felsham IP30 0QN and through Bradfield Woods and 5 x local villages before ending at the Six Bells in Felsham on Saturday the 10th August 2019 where hopefully I will be at the finishing line with Wayne and Lisa to show my own appreciation for this fund raising effort. Join me at the 50KM finishing line or join my colleagues and take part, enjoy the countryside and feel the achievement!!.

My own story: I was born in 1971 being the only child to Christine and David Crick. I had an incredible childhood until the age of 14, when I was given some devastating news about my father; he had been diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease. My time went into caring for him to allow for my mother to carry on her full-time employment at Herga Technology where she still remains after 33-years. My father died at the age of 49-years.
Lisa is my daughter from my first marriage and Wayne is my husband who I met at Herga where I was an Office Clerk. My own world fell apart having only been married to Wayne for 9-years when I was diagnosed with the same crippling disease. Immediately Lisa gave up her career to be my primary carer and that allowed for Wayne to continue working with my mother at Herga whilst always being on alert and stand-by to support my increasing needs, without them both I dread to think!!!
I am aware of my condition in my own way and whilst totally disabled and with a very limited voice, my sense of humour and positivity on life continues and the value of life that remains a gift to me. I love motor cycle racing and my hero is Guy Martin. I love visiting Monkey World and if you try to disturb me whilst I’m watching this on a Sunday afternoon, then be warned…
