Story

Hello,

My name is Kat and I am really bad at resting.  The Water of Leith Conservation Trust has been close to my heart for many years.  I wanted to take part in their sponsored 26 mile walk. However, I’ve no time to train and I’m not supposed to be exercising this month.  My friends told me I wasn’t allowed, but they also realised that I’m a determined individual who would ignore their advice anyhow.

Instead, they created an even harder challenge for me, they would sponsor me, NOT to do the walk, but in the time it would take to walk 26 miles (between 7-9 hours) I have to rest.  No doing more than one thing at a time, no pottering about with little jobs that need doing, nothing.  Even an hour of this is hard for me!

Acceptable resting activities seem to include:

  • Lie in/Have a nap
  • Crochet
  • Cross stitch
  • Having a bath
  • Reading a book (whilst not in the bath)
  • Colouring in
  • Meditate
  • Stare at a picture of a flamingo (don’t ask)
  • Watch telly whilst not doing something else at
    the same time
  • Sit in a tree (other locations may be
acceptable) and watch the world go by

I will try and do as many of these things as I can, in the most restful way possible.  Happy to do one of the tasks in your honour if you donate (I’ll even take a picture for you) and I guess I’d be open to people suggesting other resting/rejuvenating activities as well though I may veto them if I deem them inappropriate.

Date to be confirmed (though Just Giving seems to have picked the 29th June) when I have my diary available.
