I started open water swimming last year when I was encouraged/gently bullied by some great people to give it a go. Guess what, I found I absolutely loved it!

Now, whilst the Mersey is a wonderful part of my scouse heritage, it's not officially the most picturesque of waterways so I decided to celebrate my 40th birthday swimming against the beautiful backdrop of Lake Windermere instead. I've opted for a 2 mile swim (yikes) and have decided to use my personal challenge to raise funds for Peterhouse School in memory of my lovely cousin Paul. Peterhouse School provides amazing teaching and support to pupils with autism and, in Paul's case, was his happy work place.
