On 20th September 2018, we will take on the momentous Three Peaks Challenge and aim to complete this in just 24 hours! Intensive training is now well underway for this grueling test. The team comprises of David Mcbride, Ross Whitfield, Chris Thomas, Stephen Kennedy, Hayley Gallacher, Stephanie Steele, Ian Blue, Paul Blackett, Thomas O'Connor, Gavin Lamcraft and Katerina Katsambis - AKA The Three Peaks Troop.
Our mammoth mission will begin in Wales, where we will tackle the famous Mount Snowdon. At a whopping 1085m high, this is some start. We will then travel through the night to Scafell Pike in the Lake District. At 978m high, this is the smallest peak, but with the relentless and steep ascent, this will possibly be the most difficult of the Three Peaks. We then head to the highlands to take on the terrifying Ben Nevis. At 1345 above sea level, this is the highest of the Peaks and will conclude, what will very possibly be 24 hours from hell.
Should our mission be successful, we will each have walked approximately 26 miles and climbed a total ascent of around 3000 meters!
Despite the rumors, we haven't all lost the plot, but are in fact aiming to raise much needed funds for Zoe's Place, an amazing charity based in Middlesbrough, which provides palliative care for babies and children up to the age of 5 years old. It's a very worthy cause, so any donations would be very much appreciated by all.
