We provide safe, accessible play provision to Young People, 5-25 with additional needs

Story

In January 2016 I started volunteering for The Let's Play Project then in March 2016 I became a play worker...

Let’s Play specialises in the provision of play and leisure opportunities for young people with additional needs in the Banbury community. Being part of Let’s Play has been an unimaginable experience, seeing the impact it has first hand on the young people and their families is a privilege. Let’s Play believes in equal opportunity for all, striving to create a positive and happy inclusive environment where everyone is valued. Let’s Play provides activities after school five days a week and sessions during the school holidays as well as residential trips.

In 2016 Let's Play worked with an amazing 97 families, however to enable Let’s Play to continue to grow and develop they rely on donations from the public due to limited funding. I have seen how Let’s Play provide a service that is invaluable for so many families, including our own. My sister Rosie uses the services provided by Let’s Play. I have seen my sister grow in confidence and take part in activities she wouldn’t without the facilities and care provided by Let’s Play. Without Let's Play many of our young people wouldn't have any opportunity to play and socialise whilst meeting their own specific needs as well as their families.

In september 2016 playworkers, parents of service users, partners and friends took part in the Wolf run to raise money for Let’s Play. This was the first time I had run 10k in a long time, it was so much fun and for a great cause. Still buzzing from the wolf run, I got home I entered myself into Staffordshire Ironman 70.3. I wanted to do something that would really challenge me as well as raise money for Let’s Play. I have always been sporty and competed in many triathlons as a junior but this will be my first ever middle distance race and my first triathlon in over two years! Completing IM 70.3 will not only help me achieve a personal goal but also help support Let’s Play, I can’t think of a better combination!

Any donation will mean the world to me and to everyone who is part of The Let’s Play Project. I cannot thank you enough for your continued support.
