Story
At the end of October, my dad and I are cycling 400km along the coast of South Africa; from George Town to Cape Town in order to raise money for the Pheonix Burns Project.
This charity was established in 2006 in response to the devastating physical and social consequences of burn injuries to children of the Western Cape. Phoenix helps to facilitate the physical and social rehabilitation of burns victims, through raising awareness and contributing to burn prevention initiatives. Phoenix works closely with the Red Cross Children's Hospital in Cape Town, with the ultimate goal of establishing and running a dedicated Burns Rehabilitation Centre for children. http://www.abc-challenge.com/home/
Phoenix work closely with the Burns Unit at Red Cross Children’s Hospital in Cape Town and with St Josephs Home for Children, where they provide for the care and education of a number of children through the Phoenix Education Fund. They also provide training in fire and burn injury prevention to communities at risk and we are working with other
organisations to protect the rights of child burn survivors.
