We raise funds for bladder cancer to improve research, support and outcomes

Story

I am taking part in the London 2 Brighton Challenge, continuous 100km walk, along with my son in law James, in memory of my husband Chris. Chris lost his battle with bladder cancer on 2nd August 2019.

Why this challenge?

Back in 2017, Chris took part in the London to Brighton cycle ride with Mick. I don't like cycling so thought I'd walk it instead and this continuous day/night challenge seemed to fit the bill perfectly. Please donate whatever you can to support my mission to raise much needed funds for the continued research into bladder cancer.

Bladder cancer is not a rare cancer - it is the tenth most common cancer in the UK - that's 3% of all new cases.Over 10,300 people are diagnosed each year, around half of those will die. Despite this, there is very limited public awareness of the disease and it is a low priority on the public health agenda. Treatments have changed very little over the past 30 years and research is seriously underfunded. Bladder cancer has been called a 'Cinderella' cancer. ABC UK is dedicated to changing this and to giving bladder cancer patients a voice.

About the charity

We are a national charity established in 2009 - led by patients and bladder cancer experts (clinicians, nurses, researchers) working together to raise awareness of bladder cancer, improve outcomes for patients, improve and fund research and improve patient support.
