I just want to explain why I am so passionate about installing a defibrillator into our village.

On 3rd May 2015, my brother in law Danny Jones collapsed playing rugby, he experienced a sudden cardiac arrest on the pitch. Danny died of a genetic, unknown heart condition, and was completely symptomless.   

This happens day in and day out and is happening more and more. 12 people under the age of 35 die every week due to sudden cardiac arrests and the scary thing is is that it could happen to anyone at anytime. 

When experiencing a cardiac arrest the first 10 minutes is critical. The quicker the defib is used the more of that person you are saving. 

Although Danny couldn't be saved, many more could be if there's a defib nearby that could be applied and used immediately. 

I would be so proud to see our village have our very own community defibrillator. It would provide peace of mind, hope and more importantly,  provide a vital peice of equipment to anyone who may unfortunately witness the horror of someone experiencing a sudden cardiac arrest arrest.   

If we can save one person, then we will have saved one family from experiencing the loss and darkness since we lost Danny. 

Prevention is key, let's be prepared should the worst happen.

Until the full amount is reached, then I intend to organise a series (if required) of fundraisers and events in the new year to make this a success. All money raised from these events will be banked and put on this page.
