With my children growing up, I'm afraid I am running out of excuses to be taking it easy in playing the welcomer and church cleaner every year and testing tea and cakes with every visitor that steps into church.
So this year, it is a first for me... I'm getting on a bike on Saturday 14th September!
My wife Stacey is having so much fun in planning a route for me, I'm actually worried! I haven't covered much distance on a bike for a some years. The plan is for me to cycle an area that will cover a number of churches, where I shall sign in along the way evidencing my efforts and eventually returning home to St. Peter's, Milton Bryan for a rest and some tea and cake, if there is any left.
Please consider sponsoring me generously in raising vital funds for the Beds and Herts Historic Churches Trust, in which half of the total raised I will be choosing to be directed to the Fabric Fund of St. Peter's, Milton Bryan.
I'm desperate for our church to earn a gold certificate one year, but that requires raising over £2,000.00 of sponsorship, which is a big ask. It would be great news for this trust and indeed for our church too as you can imagine in receiving half, so please consider sponsoring me as I venture out on a bike...
My wife Stacey is also giving up a whole day (9am to 5pm) to set up a "Bike 'n Hike - Cafe Church". This is open to all, not just bikers and hikers, it is open to the whole community and beyond to visitors from wherever they/you may come from. Any donations towards refreshments and cakes on the day or sponsorship for Stacey in giving up her time is added to the overall total raised.
Our church family and wider community actively participates in and supports the annual Bike ‘n Hike event.
We are proud to have been awarded Bronze and silver certificate status (for raising over £500, and £1000) from the Trust four years in a row; Bronze 2015, Silver 2016, Silver 2017, Bronze 2018 and have actively taken part in the Bike 'n Hike since 2013.
St. Peter's Church, Milton Bryan is a corporate member of the Beds & Herts Historic Churches Trust.
Stacey and I have held family membership of this trust for many years, as we love to see God's houses being maintained and open for worship throughout our local counties.
Thank you for your time in reading my story and considering sponsoring me.
Best wishes,
Kelvin White
