Story
On April 5th 2019 I will be embarking on an adventure. I’ll be on my way to Peru to treck the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. This is the year I hit the big 4 0 I want to do something outside my comfort zone. This will be my biggest challenge so far! Whilst I have no doubt the experience will be incredibly rewarding I am also passionate about raising money for VSA, an extremely worthwhile charity providing valuable support to our local community.
The Inca trail will be trekking long distances for 5 days. Trekking over 40km and climbing to altitudes of 4200m. Main challenges being the long days, the steep terrain, many steps and the altitude I have to trek. Not to mention the camping....no hair straighteners, no showers, no coffee latte in the morning. !l The creepy crawlies and squat toilets are not quite the comfort I’m accustomed to..
VSA is a fantastic local charity supporting thousands of the most vulnerable people throughout Aberdeen city and Aberdeenshire. The VSAs mental wellbeing services provides a range of individualised person centred support Promoting independence, peer support and social integration. The recovery model is at the heart of their work and they ensure people receive the required support to make sure they are able to build skills that allow them to self manage their conditions
