Story
Returned safe, not pain free but I've done it!
Now if you are a good hill walker, as opposed to somebody who strolls to the village wine bar in silver trainers, trekking is all very well, you have to take into account the rough terrain and sideways rain, but if you cant see, much time is taken up concentrating on your next footfall, I knew it would be physically hard but didn't anticipate the mental strain. The camaraderie was great, local guides considerate, trained walkers and runners encouraging, other blind and VIP walkers quietly brave, but the shared experience and buzz of the last night party of why we all did it and knowing it was over was fantastic.
Behind it all, for me, was more profile and more money for RNIB so that we can supply goods and services to people currently outside our reach.
