Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

After many years of not doing any pyshical sport, Running, football etc, I was given a kick up the ass by my not so friendly doctor. He told me I was obese!!! He wasn't wrong. I weighed in at 17.5 Stone and could not go up the stairs without being out of breath. Something needed to happen and fairly quick. I'm not a person for diets, I like my food to much. So I joined a gym and set about getting fit, burning calories was my main aim, but i also needed a goal. So in October 2014 I ran my first 10k since 1987, a lot slower than my then usual 37 mins but still acheived my goal of finishing under the 1hr mark........... 56 mins 18 Sec. weighing in at 14.5 stone. The Panto season came and my Dame dresses didn't fit, "Oh no they didn't" !!!! Then it was time to set my goal for 2015, "Why not try a Triathlon" I thought ,I must get dafter as I get older. I found Cheshire Triathlon on the web, the outdoor pool was a great attraction, so for my 56th birthday my 2 grown up kids Kayleigh & Jake purchased my entry.

Our Pantomime group raise's funds every year for different charities, out of this years funds we gave  The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust £400. I have been involved with trust many years ago within my job in the motor industry. i even sold Pam a car back in 1990. So why have I chose them again.

The trust was set up in1996  by Laura's parents after she died just 2 weeks after her 17th birthday. The trust is the only charity funding research specifically into the types of cancer affecting teenagers and young adults, 13 to 24 year old's. The charity also funds measures to improve the quality of life for young cancer patients, both during and aftermath of their illnesses . After chatting with Pam, Helen and Sarah at their office I was particularly drawn to their funding of a chillout space and treatment room required by the radiotherapy dept at St Jame's Hospital Leeds. LCYCT has pledge £20,000 to match the hospitals fund raising plus a further £10,000 pounds to furnish and equip both rooms.

That is why I will be attempting the Triathlon on May 31st and also trying to raise £1000. Your help is much appreciated, whether you're donating, or cycling, running or swimming alongside me on training days. All your support will be most welcome.

I will also apologise now if I pester you lovely people for money, but as you can see I have set the bar high and failure is not an option. So give and give generously thank you.
