Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 16th September, I am running the Richmond Marathon in support of Christian Kitchen.
Last year, I was privileged to hear a guy called Tommy Anderson speak poignantly about the harsh realities of homelessness, and his address drew attention to a number of unpalatable home truths. In short, homelessness kills, plain and simple. Homelessness does not respect age, ethnicity, class, gender or disability; homelessness can befall anyone.
Being a dad, one thing that really struck me was learning that there are children who are living on the streets. It had not occurred to me that in 21st century London, there are kids living rough.
I subsequently introduced myself to Tommy and during our ensuing conversation, I promised him that I would run a marathon in support of Christian Kitchen.
Christian Kitchen is a charity provision that seeks to feed homeless and marginalized people in Waltham Forest. Every night, a purpose built catering van makes its way to the top of Walthamstow Market to serve a hot three course meal to those who need it the most. Each night, Christian Kitchen feed around 50 – 70 people. With no help from government, funding and donations come from local churches, small businesses, borough schools and individuals.
Your donation makes a difference. The harsh reality of life on the streets or being jobless in one of the most expensive cities in the world, means a warm nutritious meal can make a world of difference to one of those homeless people we see on the streets everyday.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for supporting a good cause.
