Story

CANCER

Does the word make you stop. I hope it still does!

To say someone has "beat" cancer, is like saying someone has won the lottery. I say that because, if you don't win the lottery, your not a loser, you just didn't win.

I hope someday that there will be changes that make those odds of winning better for everyone.  For now, it's the people who support families going through Cancer and loss that I'd like to support.

The time my dad spent in St Margarets gave him much needed rest and peace. The staff do an amazing job, they provide a place for families going through the hardest of times to be together and know that their loved ones are receiving the best care.

This year I've decided to take part in the Race for Life 10k in May. Climb 5 Munros over 3 days in June, starting with Ben Nevis, Binean More, Na Gruagiachean, Stob Ban and Mullach nan Coirean. Then swim Loch Lubnaig in August, to raise funds for St Margaret's.

St Margaret's is the oldest and largest hospice in Scotland and relies on fundraising and volunteers to enable the amazing service that they provide. They need to raise £40,000 every week just to stay open and continue serving the community.

I'd like to say thank you for making the time my dad spent with you just that little bit more comfortable. For the peace you gave to my mum, knowing he was looked after while he was with you.

10th June 2014, Charlie's 60th birthday, also the day his last lottery ticket didn't pay out.

Please donate anything you can to help me raise funds for this amazing service.
