Story

We have both taken on the tough challenge to train and run the London Marathon together for our charity Cardiomyopathy UK.

UPDATE: Neil completed the VLM 2017 but due to injury Hayley is now running the 2018 Marathon instead......and also Abseiling the Orbit at the Olympic Stadium.

This charity is dear to us both and raising both money and awareness for them will be the motivation we need during the coming months of training. We have a target of £5K between us to meet and appreciate any contribution that you can make to meet this.

Hayley in both her current role as practice nurse and previously as a cardiac rehabilitation nurse has always cared passionately about cardiology and making a difference in people's lives.

Neil recently lost his close friend and work colleague Graham to Cardiomyopathy issues and feels this is the perfect way to honour him. Neil as part of this fundraiser will be running the Silverstone Half-Marathon and then climb the UK's three peaks of Ben Nevis, Snowden & Scarfell Pike within a 24hr time limit.....all events within 2 months of each other!!!!

We both know this is not an easy challenge and will require a great deal of dedication but  this really is a great cause. Running this event together and raising money for Cardiomyopathy is something we hope will make our children, families and friends proud.

Cardiomyopathy is not rare and is the main medical cause of young people (under 35) dying suddenly. It can effect anyone at anytime including babies and is the most common reason for heart transplant in the UK. It runs in families and can be diagnosed in different ways. Sometimes diagnosis is a result of symptoms, a heart check or following the sudden death of a family member from the condition or by a routine health check.

Your donation will help our charity towards the vision that everyone affected by Cardiomyopathy to lead a long and fulfilling life, made possible by prompt diagnosis, treatment and medical education.

£7 pays for a ten minute call to specialist nurse £10 pays for 3 families who have a child with cardiomyopathy to get the right information £20 pays for four people to receive a 'living with cardiomyopathy' pack£150 pays for a doctor or nurse to be trained at cardiomyopathy's annual conference Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Many Thanks

Hayley & Neil
