Over the past 18 months Walsall college have taken hairdressing learners, up to our local Walsall Manor Hospital. Our aim is to whilst carrying out complimentary hairdressing services which include blow-dry's, sets and cutting services to bring companionship to the patients that have had to spend a long period of time in hospital. 

The goal is to bring a little bit of the outside world to patients at their hospital bed. It doesn't only give them a pick me up from having their hair done and lets face it, all of us men and women feel better when we've had our hair done. But it brings a change from a regular routine with new people, faces and conversations and a change is as good as any and this helps them feel more in touch with the outside world that they've maybe been out of for weeks and weeks.

The experience for us is so inspirational and heart warming that we wanted to do more to improve the experience for the patients. Our plan to achieve this is to build our very own salon within the Walsall Manor, for not only the patients to visit but family and friends, we all understand and know how hard it is on everyone when a loved one is in hospital.
