Each year I look to put my body through a random fitness challenge and raise valuable funds for a local charity.

I had originally planned on doing the Goggins 4x4x48 challenge, which sees participants run 4 miles, every 4 hours, consecutively for 48 hours. Upon completion, you will run 12 x 4 miles, or 48 miles in total, in 48 hours.

The standard marathon distance is 26.2 miles, and doubling that is 52.4 miles, meaning I am only 4.4 miles short of achieving this feat by the end of the challenge. I have therefore decided to increase the final run distance to 8.4 miles, meaning I aim to run 2 x full marathons within a 48hr window. 

Each 4 hour block will require the run itself to be completed, nutrition management, rest and recovery, all while fatigue continues to increase over the 48 hour period as the challenge progresses.

My first run will begin on 28/04/22 @ 04:00. The twelfth and final run will begin on 30/04/22 @ 00:00, aiming to finish around 01:30. As each run is completed, progress will be shared here and also on my personal Facebook page.

The charity I will be raising money for is Kayleigh’s Wee Stars, an Oldmeldrum-based charity which offers support to families who have a child with a terminal illness. It’s a wonderful charity that does so much for local families during these unthinkable and challenging times.
