Story
In April 2016 my dear friend Paul Higgins was posting on Facebook how inspiring the London Marathon was, and I started moaning about my several failed attempts to secure a place over the years. Of course poetic licence ensured that I failed to mention that those attempts were decades ago and I had hung up my running shoes several years ago!
So imagine my horror when Paul announced publically on Facebook that he was in fact a trustee of ACT and so was able to offer me a place on their London Marathon fundraising team, he even more kindly said David join in too!
Hmmm! that was a bit of a shocker....how best to save face?
Those who know me will know I'd much rather be sitting in a bar somewhere with a glass of wine in my hand than pounding the roads of Devon, or setting up my second home in B Health & Fitness in Lyme Regis (thank you guys for all your support, witty banter and encouragement), but I was really moved by the work that ACT do. As a keen Theatre and Cinema goer I had never stopped to think about the majority of Actors who never know where their next job is coming from, or if its coming at all. Throw into that mix a child who is disabled, or in need of support and it must be really tough. So I (we) decided to invest in some new running shoes and man up to the challenge.
Our lives would be very dull without these people who perform for our enjoyment and enrichment, and so I feel we owe something in return to ensure they can support their children when things get tough. More information on their amazing work can be found at:
