Story
LVCF/Redspokes' latest appeal is for Ban Yor village school. On our Laos cycle tours Redspokes cyclists visit this school and are hosted by the community for the night in home stays.
Ban Yor is a Thai Leu minority village that dates back as far ago as 902 AD. Today 135 families live here. The community still work in traditional industries such as weaving, pottery and producing fishing nets.
A big thanks to everyone who contributed towards our Ban Yor school roof appeal 2 years ago. We raised more than the cost of the roof, so the balance - £485 - has been carried forward to this appeal, and is included in the amount raised so far. Mr Soulisack the school director wrote a letter of appreciation which you can read in the photo section below!
We now want to provide some building maintenance and learning resources to Ban Yor school. The windows and doors urgently need replacing and the building needs to be painted. We also want to provide maths and Lao language text books for all the students. With your contribution, we can make this happen! As with all LVCF projects, your donations will be spent directly on site in Laos - with no expenditure on admin etc. or payments to intermediaries. Wherever possible, local voluntary village labour is used.
Mr Soulisack has advised us that upgrading the school is a priority and with your help, we’d like to help him achieve this as soon as possible, to ensure the children have a positive learning environment.
