Story
Claire Wamalwa is a young lady of just 21 years old who we (Camp Kenya volunteer group of August 2011 group) were fortunate enough to meet in Muhaka village, Kenya.
Claire's unfortunate background forced her to move away from her family home and move to Muhaka. She currently volunteers for Muhaka Primary and Secondary School full time and aspires to become a teacher. Her volunteer work has helped her to receive basic accomodation and food from the School. Living alone with no financial income it is near on impossible for Claire to be able to afford a University degree.
Having spoken to Mr K Mwandoro (Headteacher of Muhaka School) they have no funds in order to pay her a wage let alone send her to University.
Having looked over Claire's University forms whilst living in Muhaka, I was shocked to see her degree would cost a mere £600 a year! This would be a 4 year degree. So let's give whatever we can afford and get to the first milestone of £600; it's not a lot.
We are keeping in regular contact with Claire who states this fundraising will change her life; she is unable to express just how grateful she is. She will keep us updated in the future, when, fingers crossed she completes her degree.
This simple gift will set Claire up with the best possible start in her career and will enable her to afford a better standard of life. I already know how the idea of this has changed Claire's outlook on her future!
I have spoken to Camps International who are 100% behind helping Claire and all money raised will be paid directly to the University. For details on the work of Camps International, please visit: www.campsinternational.com/
Many, many thanks from all of Camp Kenya August 2011 group, Claire Wamalwa as well as Camps International.
