Story

On the 1st June 2019 we are attempting our first group 5k and decided to make it mildly enjoyable by choosing the world's BIGGEST inflatable obstacle course: Gung-Ho 5k.

And if  that wasn’t enough, Laura is also doing Water Wipeout in July 2019 (a 10k water obstacle course 🙈)

We are raising money for the Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust (LCYCT) who support 13 – 24-year-olds fighting cancer by funding medical and social research specifically into cancers that affect that age group and funding support projects for young cancer patients.

Your Donations Will Go to The Following Projects:

- Scalp Cooling - In partnership with Paxman Cooling, LCYCT will be providing scalp cooling technology to ALL Teenagers & Young Adults undergoing chemotherapy at NO cost to the hospital or patient. Scalp cooling saves hair loss during chemotherapy!

- Christmas - Each year the LCYCT delivers gifts to the 100's of young people across the UK who cannot be home for Christmas due to cancer treatment. In December 2018, they delivered 1,281 gifts to 43 hospitals including selection boxes, Amazon vouchers, hats, socks, gloves and smellies – all hand wrapped in the office by wonderful staff and volunteers.

- The chance to put a smile on a young person’s face at Christmas is so important to the charity, and they work hard all year to be able to make this happen.

- LCYCT Grant scheme for young cancer patients in the Yorkshire area, to invest in something that would improve their quality of life during and after treatment e.g. a laptop in order to be able to continue studies from hospital, or new clothes following weight loss after chemotherapy.

- As of the end of 2017, LCYCT provided 18 hospitals across the UK with laptop and iPad libraries to enable those in hospital to keep up to date and communicate with their family and friends when they are unable to see them.

- The LCYCT was excited to find out about a breakthrough which cancer researchers at the University of Huddersfield have discovered. The charity has pledged its ongoing support and funding into the research of how a new treatment regime which destroys cancerous tumours without harming healthy cell tissue, can be targeted at cancer in young people.

These are just a few of the projects we are raising money for.

We'll keep you updated with our training :)
