Diary of a Poundie

Day 5

Hello my name is Ragg's please don't mind me, I am just another Brindle Staffy with a bad hip at the Welsh pound. There are a lot of sad story's here, why should anyone care about mine. Sometimes people come and take the pretty dog's somewhere safe. Even though I wagg my tail really hard and try my best to show them I am a very good boy, they don't even glance at me.  I am to much trouble to save you see, because I need an expensive operation to repair my poorly hip. I guess that is why I am here at the pound because it was to much trouble for my human as well, I would have given my life for them, but sadly they didn't feel the same. So here I am, I don't hold out much hope of being saved from the lonely last walk.

Day 6

A lady came today and she walked straight past the new pretty dogs and came to my kennel, she told me she thought I was very handsome and that she could tell I was a good boy, She continued around the other kennels but kept smiling back at me and I made sure I wagged my tail and gave her my best staffy smile, however when I heard the people at the pound tell her how much their vets said it would cost to make me well again, I went back to my bed not expecting to ever see this nice lady again. But guess what, before she left she did come back and she whispered to me that she would do her very best to save me, because I was worth saving. She said she knew of a very special place across the bridge in Bristol that will take in dog's like me, the one's who have medical problems that the other rescues don't want and it doesn't even matter to them that I am staffy, because they think staffies are very special sort of breed. She told me how the dog's there get the very best medical care, at least 3 walks a day and bedtime cuddles every night! It sounds like doggie heaven to me.

Day7

I went to sleep last night dreaming of the special place and for the first

time since being here with hope in my heart. When I woke up I found out that the special place has a name and is called Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary. I was told that even though they are full to bursting and in the middle of a kennel build, they couldn't turn their back on me. I am saved, I don't have to die.

The nice lady who came to visit me before was from West Wales Poundies and she is taking me out of the pound today and into a temporary kennel. I have never felt so special in my whole life!

Day14

These temporary kennel are much nicer than the pound, I get a blanket in my bed here. Even though my hip hurts, I have made lots of dog friends. The only thing I do not like is that I cannot go on proper walks, not until I have had my surgery to make my hip better. I can't wait to go to Holly Hedge to get my surgery so I can run and play it's been so long since I had fun!

Day15

Woofs on the kennel block is that I will be heading off to Holly Hedge soon and that they will be sharing my story with their facebook family. WOWZERS I will be famous, I wonder if I will get fan mail and biscuits in the post?

Missy an elderly staffy who used to live here, she went to Holly Hedge last year and got word back to us that dogs find their forever families at Holly Hedge. Missy said she now has a staffy sister, a cat brother and yummy sausages for dinner, can you imagine that!

I had better start packing, so no more diary entry's until I arrive at my new kennels and see the vet. Paws crossed they like me.
