Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit this page. I am raising money for the wonderful WECare Worldwide - a small charity founded by Janey Lowes in 2014 tackling an incredibly large and important job in south Sri Lanka. They aim to better the lives of animals, reduce the incidence of rabies and change attitudes towards animal welfare through three main strategies:
- Free veterinary care for sick and injured animals: dog fights, RTA's are overwhelmingly common, as is extensive and debilitating skin disease, wounds and tick fever.
- Catch, neuter, vaccinate, release (CNVR) drives: firstly to reduce the roaming dog population and numbers of puppies dumped at a very young age. Secondly CNVR forms the back bone of striving to eradicate rabies from the island.
- Education: Education of the community, local vets and vet techs is key to making a sustainable improvement in animal health and welfare in the area.
For more information - please do check out their website http://wecareworldwide.org.uk/
I qualified as a vet in 2009 and have been working in lovely North Somerset for the last 9 years. I am heading out to Sri Lanka this Spring for 2 months to volunteer my veterinary skills.
WECare have achieved so much already - over 1500 dogs vaccinated against rabies & neutered and almost 1000 sick animals treated - for FREE. In order to do more they need your help - please please please donate to this wonderful cause if you can, and share this page with friends and family.
To raise money I have also joined the #Walk1000miles challenge - where I will be walking 1000 miles over the next 12 months
THANK YOU,
Love Laura xxx
P.S. 100% of the money donated will go straight to WECare Worldwide to help our 4 (and some now 3) legged friends. All of my personal costs are self funded.
