Story

Our son Kyle has been selected by the polar academy to go to greenland next year in the spring 2022 and we are doing as much as we can to help raise money for this amazing team.. to help our kids have a once in a life time experience in the Arctic.. ❄️

🔵Follow our story below 👇.                                     In 2019/20 we were called to a meeting and introduced to Craig and the polar academy team and told that our son could have the chance to go on this amazing expedition to the arctic!! Due to covid 19 the selection weekend had to be postponed.. But there was light at the end of the tunnel and we finally got a date... may 2021😊

Narrowed down from 100s of children to just 15 our kids from Bo'ness academy have recently spent a rigorous exercise weekend at Glenmore Lodge for selection!

Our Kyle has been selected as part of the expedition team along with 9 other kids.. who will be travelling to Greenland for an artic expedition 🤩 We are all soo proud of Kyle and the other kids who have been chosen and still can't quite believe it.

10  months of Training starts in August on the return to School and its going to be hard going!! But we will support Kyle in every single way that we can.. We are Going to be busy 😅😁

🔘About the polar academy 👇.                               The Polar Academy identifies ‘invisible’ 14-17 years old secondary school children, crushed by a lack of self-esteem and gives them the chance to redefine their physical and mental limits. Participants are put through a rigorous ten-month training programme before being immersed in the wilds of Greenland, navigating through some of the world’s remotest terrain for ten days. Their confidence soars with every step.

On their return to Scotland, each pupil shares their experiences with their peer groups, speaking to more than 20,000 school children in their region. They are living, breathing proof that dreams are attainable and that ordinary pupils can achieve the truly extraordinary.

This does not only benefit the children but the whole school and community too 😊

Despite its growing success, The Polar Academy remains wholly dependent on donations to deliver its programme that costs £170,000 to operate and to which the participants and their families are not asked to contribute. We would be truly grateful if you could help us to support this fantastic charity, every penny counts and will go towards equipment and support for this amazing journey that our kids are being offered 🤩

🔵Our fundraising events 👇

🟢On the 17th July 2021 we walked nearly 13 miles as a family to Start our fundraising for the polar academy.. The 5 peaks challenge.. - West Kip, East Kip, Scald Law, Carnethy Hill, and Turnhouse Hill. This took us 4 and a half hours and we raised an amazing £340 🤩🥰

We will continue to use this page and fundraise as much as we can & I will keep everyone updated with our progress through training..

Thank you all so so much!!

We would like to thank Craig and the whole polar academy team for making this fantastic once in a lifetime opportunity happen for our children.. You are truly amazing!!

Thanks so much.....
