Story

Hello!!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I’m really excited (and a bit scared) to tell you that I have been selected to volunteer overseas in India for 3 months!  I will be going with the charity VSO on
an International Citizen Service (ICS) placement which is funded by the UK Government.

ICS works with communities that have specifically requested their help. It also aims to inspire young people in the UK and overseas to become active citizens who are passionate about long term community development. My specific placement project will be working to impact issues of social injustice through youth civic participation in rural Rajasthan including sexual health and relationships education, health & nutrition monitoring and other forms of volunteering with young people.
We will be aiming to empower people to make their own choices and to take leadership in the local community.

Those of you who know me will know I had major surgery in May, and after wanting to travel for so long the surgery kept putting a delay
on this.  I’m so excited that it’s all over and done with and I can finally do what I have wanted to do for ages.  I decided to volunteer abroad as I want to help people who are unfortunately not as privileged as us. As I am living with a host family for 12 weeks it’s also going to be a great way for me to experience a different way of life and their culture.

The first part of my placement is a challenge to raise £1500 towards the work of VSO and their ICS partners. The money raised will go towards enabling the overall costs of ICS, ensuring they can to continue sending youth volunteers to the developing world to make a lasting difference in disadvantaged communities.

Amongst other things, I’ll be planning lots of fundraising activities such as a quiz night, bake sales, food bars etc and you can keep track of when they will be and how I get on here on my Justgiving page or on my Facebook,Twitter & Instagram.  Any donation from you will make a real difference to the lives of people in developing countries, so please dig deep!

Thanks for your support!

PLEASE NOTE - None of the money raised is to cover any of
the direct costs of my trip, all proceedings go directly to the ICS project to support their ongoing work.  All fundraising event costs will be covered by myself enabling 100% of your donations to support
the charity.
