Story

Meet Lauren,

Up until she was 13 years old she was a normal little girl. But one sunny summers afternoon her life changed. Lauren has a degenerate eye condition and within 48 hours of rubbing her eyes one summers day she lost her sight.
She went from being able to see perfectly to now almost blind.

Can you image what its like for a 13 year old girl to loose the ability to see?

She was moved schools, lost friendship circles and then in her late teens became incredibly introverted and isloated. Then, 2 years ago she got Goldie, her Guide Dog. Since having her wonderful best friend she has gone on to not only going out on her own but study at the University of Gloucestershire where she is currently in her 3rd year, about to graduate.

She has raised thousands of pounds for Guide Dogs for the Blind and has also done an assisted run.

When I met her I was humbled. This young woman sat in front of me had defyed all the odds and instead of sitting at home and feeling sorry for herself had the get up and go to live a 'normal' life, even without her vision.

This challenge is to give back to the amazing charity that changed her life, so we are trying to raise £5,000 to name a puppy!

Help me make this wonderful young womans dreams come true.

Thank you for reading, be kind, be generous.

Luke

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
