Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Those that know me will know that my spare time is usually spent sitting in my PJ's, watching TV, smoking and eating . Well the time has come for me to get off my fat ass and do something good for a cause I am very passionate about. I know that when we at Dorset Blind have the time, resources and money to invest in our younger members we really can change lives. I meet young people that just want the world to end when they are diagnosed with a sight loss. We give them all the emotional and practical support we can to help them make steps towards a brighter future. We spend time one to one or in peer support groups showing people that they can lead a fruitful life, they just need to go about it a different way. I know many of my clients are now married, have kids or are in employment purely because we helped to get them to a better place. It's not all about white canes and Guide dogs - sight loss also means deep periods of depression and feelings of no longer being able to do what they used to. Please help me to help more people in Dorset to find new ways of living a fulfilling and happy life.
Every day in February I will be walking up the equivalent of the 1576 steps of the Empire State building. Obviously I can't fly to New York every day so I will be doing this on a cross trainer instead! Please check in often to track my progress. This may seem quite an easy task to you but for someone who hasn't done any real exercise since 1989 this will be a big challenge for me!
