Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. Lee and his friend James are going to cycle from the London eye to 'Notre Dame de Paris' in 3 days to raise money for the Ichthyosis Support Group (ISG).

Why? Well almost 2 years ago Lee's son Alfie was born with a rare skin condition known as Bullous Ichthyosiform Erythroderma, a form of Ichthyosis that affects less than 1 in 100,000 people.

This condition causes the skin to be excessively fragile, and can easily blister and peel. To compensate, the body regenerates skin faster than normal, which then causes a thick build up of skin which can crack. This can be very sore at times and Alfie's care involves a lot of baths, even more greasy creams and sometimes bandages. Despite all of this, Alfie is a VERY happy and intelligent little boy, with an extremely cheeky and lovable personality.

The ISG are a fantastic charity offering people with Ichthyosis and their familes much needed support. Unfortunately doctors who see babies following birth are often unaware of this condition, and cannot offer much information. The ISG has given Lee and his wife a wealth of information and support without which they would have felt more than a little lost!

We appreciate every donation, no matter how much and know that it will be put to very good use by the ISG.

Many thanks!

Lee and James
