Story
Hi everyone, the plight of orangutans has been in the news a lot lately. Habitat destruction due to palm oil plantations, animals captured for the pet trade, etc. etc. The lucky ones are saved and taken to one of the rescue centres.
These centres need help with costs and a lot of what they need to treat the orangutans is very expensive.
Orangutan Veterinary Aid (OVAID) is a voluntary-run charity dedicated to to providing veterinary equipment to various orangutan rescue groups and centres in Indonesia.
I'm travelling with them to Central Kalimantan later in the year and will have the chance to see for myself the amazing work being done by OVAID and its partners.
As a condition of going on this trip, I need to make a donation of £850, which is completely separate from the cost of travel and will go towards buying some of the equipment, such as x-ray machines, that we will be taking out with us on the expedition. All the money raised on this site goes directly to OVAID.
