Story
On the 28th of September I will be abseiling down the Wesleyan Building in Birmingham in order to raise money for a new Midwifery Led Unit (MLU) at Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield. Over 3,500 babies are born each year at Good Hope Hospital, having an MLU will allow more women to benefit from the support of midwives in a specialist unit for low risk care. The MLU will consist of four birthing room, two of these will have birthing pools, there will also two overnight rooms which will provide a home away from home environment for parents, focusing on family centred care and creating a more relaxed environment.
The Good Hope charity have so far raised two thirds of the funds to create the MLU. With £300,000 still left to raise, I hope everyone can dig deep to sponsor me do The Big Abseil down the Wesleyan Building in Birmingham this September.
