In May 2011 after an amazing, problem free pregnancy my daughter Lola died at 39 weeks into my pregnancy and was therefore stillborn. We spent 5 agonising days in hereford hospital on the labour ward hearing new babies come screaming into the world and being taken home by their families whilst we sat and waited for induction to work and for our little girl to be born, silently. As soon as we said hello we had to say goodbye as maternity wards are busy places and although the hospital was fantastic, for everyone else life goes on and our room was needed. As you can imagine this is an experience that has changed and shaped me as a person for the last 7 years and will do all my life. We have also had 4 miscarriages too, all of which were dealt with on the women's health ward sat amongst all the families having their lovely scans, getting their due dates for their precious babies and happy news whilst our hearts had been broken into a million pieces once again... 

Hereford County hospital are raising money for a separate ward that is so vitally important and so badly needed, not only for stillbirths but also couples who suffer miscarriages,  terminations for medical reasons, neonatal deaths and any other sort of baby loss that unfortunately families do experience. If we'd of had this suite when Lola was born it would of helped us in so many ways and prepared us a bit better for what was to come once we left the bubble of the hospital, it would of given us the time, space, dignity and support that would of been invaluable. It will not take away the pain or the loss nothing every changes, that but it will be the best place to be when tragedy strikes and medical assistance is needed.

 In 2011 on new years eve I raised £5,000 for the charity SANDS that funds research into stillbirths and neonatal deaths. I feel really passionately about this ward and the difference it will make to families going through such heartbreaking times.

I have gone on to have 2 beautiful children, Freddie and Matilda so have experienced the nicest side of being in a hospital and bringing a baby home safely too. It's the hardest job in the world to be a parent to a child who is in heaven, but I will keep talking about her, keeping saying her name, keep raising money in her memory and bring up my children knowing they have the bravest and most beautiful big sister who lives up in the clouds but who is still a massive part of our lives and always will be.
