Story
We knew there was something not quite right with Ruby’s eyes from a very young age but despite 6monthly appointments it took until she was 7 years old to be diagnosed and registered as partially sighted or visually impaired with CVI. Yet another life long disability to add to her long list. However, this time we had support from an amazing charity based in NE, who not only support the visually impaired person but also the whole family. Useful Vision is a registered charity providing positive opportunities, support, and accessible events for visually impaired children and their families across the North East. They offer a huge range of imaginative activities, relaxed family events and skills workshops are designed to meet the needs of blind and partially sighted children of all ages and abilities. Our family has enjoyed trips to the farm, making own afternoon tea, sports activities, horse riding and even sausage making - all of which have been offered to the whole family but specially modified to ensure they suit the visually impaired or blind child.
This year Ruby will run (with my support) the junior great North Run and m, despite her many obstacles which could prevent this, I know she will absolutely smash it like she has done every step of her life. We would love to raise some money for such a worthwhile cause which have helped her and other children at the same time.
Thank you for any donations
